1 November 2017 marked the launch of the first Trans Tasman MotoGymkhana competition. The sport is growing in Europe, Asia and the USA. Australia and New Zealand need to step up or get left behind.
For 2017 Coneheads is offering the Novice Cup which is a fun series of 4 courses. The courses are simple, easy to set out and learn. The rules are based on the standard MotoGymkhana rules but are relaxed to help you have a go.
Anyone can submit a time for the courses but to qualify for the Novice Cup you must be riding in NZ or AU and not previously competed in a MotoGymkhana series.. The winners with the most points after the 4 rounds (best 3 places counted) will ride away with:
The start is nice and quick. out of the box and round the central cone. Followed by a tight-as-you-can left hander. One of the first exercises a new rider learns is the slalom. To keep it less than 20m X 20m the slalom was bent around a bit. the Right hander at the end of the slalom is almost a 180deg. Back round the center cone for the full rotation finale. Please remember to stop in the box. For the video it is a good idea to show the timer in the end shot or say the time.
